Street Smarts is our Defensive Driving course for teens that includes a lesson on Attention & Distraction issues.
Our mission is to reduce injuries and costs resulting from unsafe driving behavior with our online, immersive defensive driving course designed for teen drivers that focuses on the five most common causes of crashes (accounting for over 85% of all collisions).
Teens need driving safety training and a context for learning safe behaviors because they are 3 times more likely to be in a crash than all other age groups over 20.
This On Q course has six core modules consisting of 11 lessons and an exam. Each lesson takes approximately 20 +/- minutes each to complete. The course is designed to be self-paced (no instructor) online and is accessible 24/7 so drivers can learn on their own time.

Course Modules
- Module #1 - Search and Scan
Drivers learn where to look, when to look, what to look for, and what to do when they identify hot spots that require more attention.
- Module #2 - Hazard Recognition
Drivers learn about hazard clues and masks that help them anticipate risky situations. They will practice identifying multiple hazards in quick succession and learn what can happen if they fail to recognize hidden hazards.
- Module #3 - Sight, Speed, and Space Management
Teaches drivers to not only become familiar with situations that require them to adjust their sight, speed, and space, but also provides practice for adjusting speed and space to help maintain vehicle control and avoid a crash.
- Module #4 - Judging Safe Distance
Covers “Go Zones”, or the distance needed between the driver’s vehicle and oncoming vehicles and how big their Go Zone must be depending on the speed of oncoming traffic and the maneuver being performed.
- Module #5 - Attention and Distraction
Covers the negative effects of looking away from the road for more than two seconds. Drivers will practice strategies for eliminating controllable distractions and making necessary adjustments for distractions they cannot control.
- Module #6 - Backing
Covers safe practices for backing up vehicles.
